Escape the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and immerse yourself in the peaceful countryside—where quiet villages, tranquil farms, winding rivers, lush paddy fields, and breathtaking mountain landscapes paint a timeless picture of rural Vietnam.
MD Retreat holds special meaning for me. “MD” stands for my name, Manh Do—”M” for Mountain and “D” for Dew, symbolizing my origins and the simplicity of a son of the Northwest mountains of Vietnam.
I grew up poor in remote Lai Chau far North province of Vietnam. Unable to afford college, I moved to Sapa in 2005 to work at a small guesthouse, where I met travelers from around the world. Motivated to learn, I practiced English with guests and moved to Hanoi in 2006, seeking new opportunities and language skills.

The hotels were all good, from homestay with slightly simpler amenities to a hillside resort with fantastic views. The tours were pleasant and we saw a lot of the scenery, they were easy to master and varied. Nevertheless, there was always enough time at leisure. We would definitely recommend the tour to get a basic overview of the regions and always feel in good hands.Posted on MarkDisbrow7Verified Sarah Happiness Tour We had a fantastic adventure with Sarah. She was fun, energetic and knowledgeable. She provided extra personal touches and unique experiences. She has unique gift of making strangers become friends.Posted on CélineVerified Highly recommend I did a 4 Day tour, and everything was super well organized, comfortable transport, a good balance of sightseeing and free time, and just overall really enjoyable. My guide Sarah was a young, energetic, funny, and full of knowledge lady. She not only explained me about the places but also shared insights about Vietnamese culture, traditions and modern life. Thanks to her, I even got the chance to go to a college students’ gala dinner, something I’d never have experienced without a local! About the 3 area visited...Mai Chau was lovely for meeting locals and exploring the countryside. Pu Luong was beautiful with stunning rice fields, an amazing ecolodge with a pool and incredible views, super friendly staff, and fun trekking from jungle to cave, rice fields, and small waterfalls. Ninh Binh was probably the highlight, what a special place! I’d recommend staying longer there, as there’s a lot to see and it’s not far from Hanoi.Posted on Martine MVerified Amazing experience Absolutely splendid scenery , the inhabitants of Mai Chau and Pu Long very welcoming , always smiling , working hard every day .My guide Brian very friendly, very attentive, cultivated , deeply loving his country, introduced me to customs , a rich culture, incredible places of beauty .Thank you very much Brian.I highly recommend to future travelers.Posted on Shadaa WVerified Nice trip Brian was an excellent tour guide — friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful throughout the trip. Agriculture, temperature and experiences. Our guide Brian/Hoang was very knowledgeable, he was attentive to all members of our group. Preempting needs and special requirements, to help with my mobility. Also asked about dietary needs and any other requests. Accommodation and activities/relaxation balance suited us perfectly. Would recommend this trip, as a break from City sights.Posted on pstandyVerified Wonderful experience We had an amazing time during our 5-day trip.
